• Relationship and Special Events Coordinator

    The MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic membership-based organization dedicated to strengthening the business community through building relationships, building business and building community. We are seeking a results-driven individual to join our team and play a key role in driving engagement and relationships with prospective members and key stakeholders as well as generating sponsorship support and meeting key metrics for special events.  
     
    This position requires a proactive and personable professional who is comfortable with sales, networking, and relationship-building. The candidate should have an outgoing personality, excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-motivation and the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.  Must have exceptional customer service skills and a professional, mature attitude.

    Key Responsibilities

    • In conjunction with the VP of Membership, drive engagement and relationships with prospective members, supporting the chamber’s membership growth strategy and goals.
    • Coordinate special events, including but not limited to the Business Awards, Golf Tournament, Gala, After-Hours, Expos, Career Fairs, Trap Shoot and Membership Meetings. Ensure attendance and sponsorship goals are met. Liaison with committees as needed.
    • Assist with solicitation of event sponsorships and/or donation items as needed. Works with President on budget, goals, and additional revenue opportunities.
    • Regularly attend Working with Women and Sunrise programs, supporting co-chairs on logistics. Ensure new members and guests receive world-class hospitality.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders on special events as requested such as student tours, workshops, etc.
    • Take photos and videos at chamber functions for use in chamber materials and social media. Curate social media and newsletter content for pre and post event marketing.
    • Recruit and motivate volunteers as needed.
    • Assist with the chamber’s three-year strategic plan, specifically the ‘Engage’ area of focus.
    • Develop handbook procedures for special events. Proactively identify growth opportunities and solutions.
    • Other duties as assigned. 
    Characteristics & Skills Required
    • Well-organized, self-motivated, positive individual who can work with minimum supervision, takes initiative and enjoys being part of a small, cohesive team.
    • Proven experience in sales or business development.
    • High attention to detail while able to multi-task effectively and efficiently.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adept at working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and personalities.
    • Not afraid to make asks – sponsorships, donations, attendance, etc.
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
    • Four years’ customer-facing experience required.
    • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with Canva and Constant Contact a bonus.
    Working Environment
    We offer a hybrid, flexible schedule with a combination of remote work as well as onsite presence during regular hours of M-Thurs 8-4 pm and Fri 8-12 pm. Occasional staffing of events outside of these hours may be requested, including staffing of 1st, 3rd and 5th Friday Sunrises. The physical requirements include capacity to work at a desk for prolonged periods with occasional need to lift objects up to 25 pounds.
     
    Salary and Benefits
    This is an hourly/non-exempt full-time position with a base salary of $20-$24/hour DOQ and commission structure. Benefit package includes but not limited to paid holidays, generous vacation and sick days, and a flexible, hybrid schedule.
