MetroNorth Announces 3 Star Accreditation

U.S. Chamber Awards the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce with 3-Star Accreditation for Organizational Excellence

The United States Chamber of Commerce has awarded the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce with 3-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.

“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community,” said Raymond Towle, U.S. Chamber Executive Director of Political Affairs and Federation Relations. “We applaud the MetroNorth Chamber for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”

U. S. Chamber Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers of commerce for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take 6-9 months to complete while the final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members. Only 4% of all chambers of commerce nationwide have U. S. Chamber Accreditation.

“I am so pleased to receive this recognition from the U.S. Chamber,” stated Lori Higgins, President of MetroNorth. “Our Members should feel secure in knowing they have invested in a well-run and well-organized Chamber. We are committed to being an effective and good steward of our resources on behalf of our Members.”

“The U.S. Chamber not only awarded us with 3 Stars,” Higgins continued, “they also commended us on several outstanding features of our Chamber, including the frequency of addressing high priority local issues impacting businesses; offering a diverse array of products and services to Members; and our Sunrise Networking program, which was noted as a great opportunity for micro-businesses that look to grow through networking.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.

The mission of the MetroNorth Chamber is to be the leading advocate and resource for business in the greater Anoka County area by promoting economic growth and development, impacting public policy, providing education opportunities and building professional relationships.
